202E- Quarter 2 Review

"Who do you think you are-- I am!"

~Pete Weber~

One of my favorite quotes when asked about my identity, not only in the shared space of humanity but in my profession, personal life and areas in between . I rarely struggled with the who and fortunately had a solid moral backing and sense of identity- thanks to the village I had back home. That’s not to say I hadn’t questioned it though; I’m still human.

The evolution of 5K began in highschool and transformed into a lifestyle: One of variance and based in faith. Life begins outside of your comfort zone and the biggest room is the room for improvement.

“5K’ takes on five focal points that are expressed in the work. The first of five is traveling. Travel has been a necessity for me, as it has been a gateway to express my passion for humanity and exploration of the world around me. Secondly, we have the most thrilling segment of it all: Adventure. Everyday is an adventure, whether it be a trip to the Bahamas or a trip to the farmer’s market; there’s a story behind it all. I’ve set out to have an adventure everyday in some capacity. It makes me feel more alive than I already am, just because I believe there is something to look forward to, even in the small things throughout a day. The day is what you make it and how you leave it when it’s over.

The third and probably the most important aspect of 5K is Outreach: being able to assist others unselfishly for the greater glory of God and continuing to being devoted to service with the talents and skills appointed to me. Lifting as we climb in this quest of life is important, and I am determined to providing inspiration and motivation through my work . Yet in order to maintain this level of service and outreach, I must exercise the fourth element of “5K’,which is 5itness (Fitness). This includes the seven dimensions of wellness to ensure I have a well rounded sense of self in the healthiest and most aware way possible. These dimensions include : Mental, Physical, Spiritual, Emotional, Environmental, Social, and Vocational.

Finally, the fifth and final focal point of “5K” is Knowledge. Being a student of life and exploring a variety of information to better the planet and those around you is a mandatory thing for me . Together, Travel, Adventure, Outreach, 5itness and Knowledge are forged together to create what you all commonly know as The Adventues of 5K (T.A.O.5.K). See what I did there? I knew you would like it .
